School Meals

Lunch in school

Lunch at ShawburyChildren at St Mary’s can either have their own school packed lunch, OR have school meals, which are both healthy and varied, freshly prepared and served from the school kitchen. Our lunches are provided by staff working for Shire Services, under the direction of our cook Kelly, who is always happy to talk to parents about how she can help with any dietry requirements and food preferences of their children.

Menus

Lunch at ShawburyThe menu works on a three-week cycle. Menu’s are available from school and we send these home regularly too. we also have special menu days to celebrate sporting events or National celebrations.

In some instances, nearly always due to non-availablility/supply of ingredients, the cooks in school will have to make changes to the published menu.

Prices for school dinners are:

  • £2.20  (Children’s meals)
  • £3.20  (Adults’ meals)

your child will have school dinners, by cheque payable to Shropshire Council.

Snacks

Children in Reception and Key Stage 1 are given a piece of fruit during morning breaktime, which is free under the National Fruit Scheme. Older children (Year 3 to 6) can bring fruit from home for a mid-morning snack. We operate a healthy eating policy and so do not allow sweets, crisps, biscuits or chocolate to be eaten at breaktime, and prefer fruit or health bars (e.g. muesli bars) to be consumed.
