Hello Monday

Good Morning Nursery,

I hope you had a lovely relaxing weekend

It’s time to start the week again with a bit of Monday morning exercise, JOE WICKS, so click on the link below and have some fun before completing our morning routine and listening to our story of the week

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Our story this week is Jack and the Beanstalk please watch the video together, or if you have the story book please read that instead.

  • Think about how Jack felt when he got rid of the cow, did he do the right thing or should he have sold it like his Mummy asked??
  • Do you think it was dangerous to climb up the beanstalk?? Would you climb up there??
  • Should Jack have taken things from the giant ogre??
  • What colour is the beanstalk??

Have a go at finding ‘Green’ objects around your home and take a picture of them for me to see.

The number we are looking at in more detail today again is the number 4, please see attached worksheet below. Please write the number 4, count 4 fingers and find 4 objects.

t-n-2546490-all-about-number-4-number-formation-activity-sheet-nursery

This afternoon in nursery we are roleplaying the story using masks from the story, could you all have a go at making a mask of one of the characters from the story, you can cut it out and colour it. You could be Jack, the Giant or even Milky White the cow, once you have finished it you could attach it to a stick with Sellotape and pretend you are in the story. You could even make up your own story and make friends with the giant or have a tea party with him.

Have fun xx

Owls Maths Home Learning – maths comparing mass

Dear Parents and Carers,

I want to say a big thank you for all of the work that you are completing at home!

I have attached a document (maths extra activities – comparing mass) to help with the maths, it has got extra activities that would help alongside the video lessons. It has also got explanations about what the children should be understanding from the videos. This document doesn’t have a page per video, but it is for the maths up to the end of Alive in 5!

Hope this helps,

Miss Parker

Today I would like you to write the story that you have created. I have attached a comic strip with space for pictures as well as space to write the sentences underneath. The children could do this in one comic strip to include the key parts of the story or if your child is confident to do a bit more they could do two comic strips to extend the story and add more details. Can’t wait to see them!

For our focus activity we are going to be making our own cress heads, I hope you all managed to purchase some cress seeds so you can join in, but if you didn’t don’t worry we are going to make a special extra one in class that is for all of you and I will document it’s progress as we continue through this term! If you haven’t managed to get cress seeds but you have grass seeds lying in a shed somewhere then of course you can use those instead!

Below are the instructions for our cress head activity, but it’s very simple and super fun, just draw a face on your yogurt pot or tub, then add watered cotton wool balls, sprinkle on your cress seeds and place on a windowsill to get some sun light.

Tuesday 19th January

Good Morning Everybody,

This morning after you have completed your daily morning routine which consists of counting from 0-10, but if you can continue further that’s amazing, please do so. Colour recognition, Shape recognition. Shape of the Week this week is a ‘SQUARE’, remember to count the sides and corners together, make the number four with your fingers holding them up in the air, then have a go at writing the number 4 on paper, or white board, in sand or even make a 4 using playdough any mark making is fun and super learning.

t-n-1409-square-shape-activity-sheet-_ver_1-nursery

  • Can you find objects around your house that is a SQUARE shape??

Remember to look at the day and date of the week also what the weather is doing outside?, We have magic weather goggler’s (Binoculars to you and me) in nursery but you can just make your own binoculars by using your hands to inspect the weather further when you look out of the window!

Also name writing if you would like me to email you a template of your child’s name writing sheet, please get in contact and I will forward it straight back to you.

Todays focus activity is measuring Conner the caterpillar please see resources below.

t-m-31786-measuring-caterpillar-lengths-maths-activity_ver_nursery

Conner needs help with sorting out his caterpillar friends into groups of short and long, he also wants help with seeing which of his caterpillar friends are longer or shorter then him or even the same size. ‘Can you help him’???

Don’t worry if you aren’t able to print Conner out, you could draw and colour your own Conner the caterpillar and some friends, then practice your cutting skills and cut them out and then place them in piles of small/short or big/long.

This afternoon is Makaton sign time, the sign to learn together this week is ‘Good Morning’ have fun signing together.

Have a great day ♥
