Enrichment Friday – Arts and Craft

Art Club - North High School

This week in art enrichment, we wrapped up our fabric wreath project, bringing a festive touch to our creations. We used fabric cutters to shape holly leaves with precision, adding a natural flair to their designs. To complement the greenery, we crafted vibrant pompoms to serve as cheerful red berries, tying the wreaths together with pops of colour and texture. The combination of materials and techniques brought creativity and teamwork to life, resulting in stunning wreaths that capture the spirit of the season.

Anti Bullying Week 2024

Anti-Bullying Week 2024: Choose RespectResources for Anti-Bullying Week 2023 - Ineqe Safeguarding Group

For Anti-Bullying Week, our class watched a powerful video that helped us understand how it feels to be bullied. The video showed the emotional impact bullying can have on someone, and it really made us think about how important it is to treat others with kindness and respect. We talked about the different ways bullying can happen—whether it’s physical, verbal, or even online—and how it can make someone feel isolated, sad, and hurt.

After the video, we had an open discussion about what we can do to help someone who might be experiencing bullying. We agreed that standing up for others, speaking out against bullying, and offering support can make a big difference. We ended the week by celebrating the positive qualities of our friends. We shared compliments, highlighted each other’s strengths, and reminded ourselves how important it is to create a kind and inclusive environment for everyone. It was a great way to wrap up the week, focusing on friendship, empathy, and making our school a safer, happier place for all.

Hoo Zoo Fossils Experience – Science Topic

What is a fossil? | The Learning ZoneHoo Zoo & Dinosaur World - Visit Shropshire

This week, Year 3 and 4 had an amazing visit from Hoo Zoo to kick off our new science topic! We learned all about fossils, including the different types and how they have been formed over millions of years. We discovered that fossils can form in various ways, like when an animal or plant gets buried in mud and leaves an imprint, or when bones and shells slowly turn to rock. Some fossils even capture the shapes of footprints or outlines of leaves, showing us exactly how they looked long ago. We got to see and hold different kinds of fossils, from shells and plants to ancient bones, which made it easier to understand the incredible story each fossil tells about life on Earth. The highlight of the visit was meeting a dinosaur!  It was an exciting, hands-on experience that brought our learning about fossils and dinosaurs to life and was the perfect way to start our new science topic!

Attendance Monopoly

MonopolyWelcome to Stockham Primary School

This week in Class 5, we enjoyed an exciting reward for having great attendance before half term! We earned this treat by moving our Monopoly piece forward on the school board, which we do every time we reach our attendance goal. Because we met our target, we were rewarded with delicious milkshakes and cookies! It was a fun way to celebrate all our hard work and commitment to being in school every day. Everyone enjoyed the tasty treats and felt proud of working together to earn our special reward.

First Week at Art Club

This was the first week of Art Club, and we were all excited to get started! We each received personalized sketchbooks that we’ll be working in over the next few weeks, making them our own creative space. For our first page, we designed our names and expressed ourselves by drawing things that represent who we are, like our favorite hobbies, interests, and anything that makes us unique. It was a fun way to kick off the club, and we loved seeing everyone’s different styles and ideas. We’re all looking forward to the exciting art projects we’ll be working on in the weeks to come!

Music Lessons Year 3

Year 3’s Musical Adventure with the Recorder!

Our Year 3 class has been diving into the wonderful world of music by learning to play the recorder! Over the past few weeks, the students have been enthusiastically discovering how to read music and play the notes on this delightful instrument.

The journey began with understanding musical notes and how to read them on sheet music. The children practiced finger placements and learned to produce clear, beautiful sounds on the recorder. Each lesson brought new notes and rhythms to master, and the classroom was filled with the joyful sounds of progress.

As their skills improved, the students began practicing combinations of notes. They worked hard to perfect their timing and coordination, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow with each session. Playing the recorder became not only a learning experience but also a fun and rewarding challenge.

Now, we are thrilled to be preparing for a very special performance. At the end of our seven weeks of learning, the Year 3 class will showcase their newfound talents in a performance for the entire school. The students are practicing diligently and are very excited to share what they have learned with everyone.

Our Year 3 recorder players have made fantastic progress, and their dedication is truly inspiring. We can’t wait to see them shine on stage and celebrate their hard work and musical achievements!

Year 4 Music – Trumpets

For the past seven weeks, our Year 4 students have been on an exciting musical adventure, learning how to play the trumpet! They started by discovering the different parts of this amazing instrument and understanding how each part works together to make music.

The children then moved on to learning the notes, which was a fun and challenging part of their journey. They practiced how to position their fingers and control their breath to hit the right notes. Everyone was excited when they finally made their first sounds on the trumpet!

As their skills grew, the students began playing short pieces of music. It was incredible to see their progress as they learned to read music and perform simple melodies. Each week, they became more confident and enthusiastic about playing.

The highlight of their trumpet journey was preparing for a final performance. Using all the knowledge and skills they had gained, the children worked hard to perfect their rendition of “Jingle Bells.” They practiced diligently, and their hard work paid off with a fantastic performance that made everyone proud.

Our Year 4 students learned a lot during these seven weeks, from the basics of the trumpet to performing a full piece of music. Their final performance was a wonderful celebration of their dedication and newfound musical talents. We are so proud of their achievements and look forward to more musical adventures in the future!
