RAF Shawbury STEM Day

Year 3 and 4 had the pleasure of attending RAF Shawbury for a wonderful STEM day, the children were all engaged and came away full of knowledge. They worked collaboratively to build a wheel barrow to transport a cup of water safely, they got to experience flying with VR headsets, built their own gliders and tested rockets. Thank you RAF Shawbury for the amazing experience.

LKS2 Weekly News

This week the children in Years 3 & 4 haven’t stopped. We have started our assessment week off with a bang and all children have worked incredibly hard to show what they can remember from all their learning. They have tried their hardest and persevered. Well done!

We created our river creatures in DT (thank you for providing the box) and we will be adding our pneumatic system in this week. We can’t wait to show you the final product.

We also started to learn our Easter play – The Three Trees. We hope you can come and watch our performance on Thursday 14th March. Could all children please bring into school black bottoms (trousers, leggings, joggers) and a black t-shirt. If these could be brought into school before Tuesday 12th March that would be much appreciated.

We are looking forward to welcoming you into our classrooms on Tuesday to share our learning with you.

Have a wonderful weekend.

LKS2 Weekly News

This week in LKS2 we have looked at states of matter in Science and looked at the Disney film Elemental – we discussed changing states. The children then created comic strips showing how water changes state. We also created a game of Fire, Water, Air and Earth.

In English we have been looking at letters of complaint and have been looking at the dangers of pollution within rivers. Next week we will be holding a debate and writing our own letter.

We have started our new unit in DT on pneumatic systems – we cannot wait to get making things.

Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

LKS2 Weekly News

Last week we had another super busy week in LKS2. We had fun testing our measuring skills when measuring the temperature accurately. We looked at time lines in History and the reasons as to why the Anglo Saxons invaded Britain.

Congratulations to Year 4 for winning the battle of the bands on TTRS.

LKS2 Weekly News

This week in class 6,7 & 8 we have been investigating the characteristics of liquids and testing which ketchups are best at staying on the hotdog. We learnt a new word ‘viscosity’ and in class 6 we found that the more expensive ketchups had the higher the viscosity. We had lots of fun finding out and put our observational skills to the test.

We have been designing witches potions and writing pitches for Dragons Den, the jury is still out to decide who will become the Vice Grand High Witch. There were some very creative concoctions.

We have set a TTRS challenge between Years 3 & 4 which will start on Saturday 27th – remember to go on and earn some points for your team.

Next week children will be bringing home a bookmark to support with their home reading, it has information regarding our reading domains and has some sentence stems to support your questioning when listening to your child read.

Have a lovely weekend.
