LKS2 Weekly News

This week in class 6,7 & 8 we have been investigating the characteristics of liquids and testing which ketchups are best at staying on the hotdog. We learnt a new word ‘viscosity’ and in class 6 we found that the more expensive ketchups had the higher the viscosity. We had lots of fun finding out and put our observational skills to the test.

We have been designing witches potions and writing pitches for Dragons Den, the jury is still out to decide who will become the Vice Grand High Witch. There were some very creative concoctions.

We have set a TTRS challenge between Years 3 & 4 which will start on Saturday 27th – remember to go on and earn some points for your team.

Next week children will be bringing home a bookmark to support with their home reading, it has information regarding our reading domains and has some sentence stems to support your questioning when listening to your child read.

Have a lovely weekend.

LKS2 News

This week in LKS2 we have really got to grips with our new and exciting topics. We looked at Saxon artefacts and discussed what they could be and what they would have been used for.

In Science we have been looking at what solid, liquid and gas are. We looked at properties of materials and held a debate on what the best material for a roof would be. We had to think about prior learning and scientific vocabulary and make links to what we see around us.

We have thoroughly enjoyed reading the witches and writing character descriptions about them.

Please can I remind you that homework is to read at least 3x a week, practise for spellings and go on TTRS. Thank you in advance for your support.

Stay safe and warm.

Have a lovely weekend

LKS2 News

What a fun filled week we have had in LKS2.

Well done to all the boys and girls in class 6,7 & 8 for demonstrating our school rules whilst walking around the community on Wednesday when we went to the moat in preparation for our new History topic ‘The Saxons’. We had an enjoyable afternoon finding out all about our local area.

Class 6,7 and 8 Weekly News

We have had a busy two days in LKS2, we have been recapping over previous knowledge to help us remember and recall prior learning. We have been discussing our classroom culture and how we want our classroom to feel. We reminded ourselves of our school rules; ready, respectful and safe. We also discussed our school value for the half term – which is ‘positivity’.

Class 7 had the delight of having their first violin lesson.

Next Wednesday we will be walking to the Moat for our History topic, please can children bring some wellies (or footwear that you don’t mind getting dirty) and a waterproof coat.

We look forward to seeing you all next week.
