Nursery Weekly Update

This week the children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the story Stick Man. They were especially engaged in talking about their own families and sharing who is special to them. Together, we have thought about how families help and care for one another, and we celebrated the fact that all families are unique and different. It has been wonderful to see the children speaking with pride and confidence about the people who are important in their lives.

Next week we will be sharing the story Granny Went to Market. The children will be talking about their grandparents and all the lovely things they enjoy doing with them.

We would love it if you could send in a photo of your child with their grandparent(s) to support our discussions and activities.

Nursery Weekly Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’ve had a wonderful week in Nursery! The children have been very busy singing, talking, designing, and making their own houses. We even imagined our dream homes — from rainbow castles to cosy boat houses — and the children’s creativity really shone through.

In maths, we’ve enjoyed singing number rhymes and practising our counting skills. A favourite activity has been collecting and counting acorns for Mr Squirrel in the mud kitchen, which brought lots of excitement and teamwork.

It’s been fantastic to see the children’s confidence growing as they share their ideas and join in activities together.

Thank you, as always, for your support. We’re looking forward to another fun week ahead!

Warm regards,

The Nursery Team

Nursery Weekly Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’ve had a lovely week in Nursery, with lots of excitement as the children explored the story of The Three Little Pigs.

The children have enjoyed:

  • Listening to and retelling the story with actions and props.
  • Taking on different roles in our small-world play – we’ve had lots of little pigs and a few very cheeky wolves.
  • Exploring new vocabulary linked to the story, such as “straw,” “sticks,” “bricks,” and “huff and puff.”

Through these activities, the children have been developing their speaking and listening skills, imagination, and teamwork. They have also been busy with plenty of counting and sorting in their play.

We are very proud of how confidently the children have joined in and how much they are growing in independence.

Next Week:

Our learning will move on to thinking about our own homes. We will be talking about where we live, what our houses look like, and who we share them with. To help us with our discussions, we would love it if you could send in a photo of your child’s home. This could be printed and brought in, or posted on Seesaw.

This week in Nursery

We’ve had such a fantastic week together! The children have been busy exploring who they are and celebrating what makes each of them unique.

Self-Portraits – The children loved creating their very own self-portraits. They carefully looked at their faces, noticed their features, and used a range of colours and materials to bring their pictures to life. It was wonderful to see the pride they took in their work!

Core Story: I Like Myself – Our story time focused on this joyful book, which celebrates individuality and self-confidence. The children really connected with the message and enjoyed talking about the things that make them special.

Song of the Week: The Power of Me – What a hit! The children sang with such enthusiasm and energy, reminding us all how important it is to believe in ourselves.

It’s been a week filled with confidence, creativity, and positivity – we are so proud of how the children are growing in their understanding of themselves and each other.

First week!

The children have had a wonderful start to the term and have enjoyed a lovely first week in Nursery. We have been getting to know them and finding out about their interests, which has been a joy to share.

This week, the children have loved exploring the setting. We have a magical house area (including a magical music house!) and the children will be learning many rhymes and songs over the next few weeks.  Ask them to sing them to you! They have also enjoyed experimenting in our brand-new mud kitchen, which has inspired lots of imaginative play. Together, the children have helped to create our Nursery Belonging Tree, which we will continue to add to as autumn progresses.

We are so pleased with how well the children have settled and the enthusiasm they are already showing for our new topic- Magical Me!

We can’t wait to see what next week brings!

Safety Squad

Sun safety

This week, our enrichment group has been learning all about the importance of sun safety.  With the warmer weather, it’s the perfect time for our pupils to think about how to stay safe in the sun while enjoying outdoor play and learning.

The children took part in discussions about why sun safety matters and shared what they already knew about protecting their skin and staying cool.  Together, we explored key messages such as:

  • Wearing a hat to protect your head and face.
  • Using sun cream to protect your skin.
  • Drinking water to stay hydrated.
  • Finding shade during the hottest parts of the day.

To help spread the message across the school, the group created some fantastic sun safety posters.  Each one is bright, informative and designed to remind everyone to take care in the sun.  You’ll spot them displayed around the school building and on the playground over the coming weeks!

The children were proud to take on the role of sun safety ambassadors, showing real care for their school community.

Well done to everyone involved for being so thoughtful and creative!

Safety Squad

Water Safety

This week, our pupils took part in a valuable and engaging Water Safety Enrichment session.  Together, we explored the many places we might find water- from rivers and lakes to swimming pools and the seaside- and discussed how to stay safe in and around them.

Children learned about the Water Safety Code, how to spot signs of danger and what different safety flags mean at the beach.  We also talked about how to help someone safely in an emergency without putting ourselves at risk.

To deepen their understanding, pupils took part in a fun water safety quiz and had the chance to get creative by designing their own safety posters to share the important messages they had learned.

It was a fantastic session, full of learning and teamwork, helping our children to stay safe and confident around water.

School Safety Squad

Staying Safe in Our School

As part of last week’s enrichment session, children took part in a valuable learning experience focused on safety in and around our school.

We began by discussing the different ways we can help keep ourselves and others safe every day- from walking sensibly in the corridors to staying alert in busy areas like the playground and car park.  The children showed fantastic awareness and contributed thoughtfully to our conversations about responsibility and care for others.

To put this learning into practice, we carried out a safety walk around the school grounds.  Children acted as safety inspectors, spotting potential hazards, noticing where signs or reminders might be useful, and thinking about how we can improve our environment to keep everyone safe.

The session was a brilliant mix of discussion, exploration and creativity- and most importantly, it helped our pupils feel empowered to make a difference in their school community.

Well done to everyone for taking safety seriously and showing such thoughtful teamwork!
