Class 1 Weekly Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope this message finds you well and ready for the weekend! It’s been an exciting week of learning and discovery in our literacy and math sessions, and we’re thrilled to share some highlights with you.

Literacy Adventures: Into the Woods with Percy and the Park Keeper

This week, our young adventurers embarked on a literary journey ‘Into the Woods’ with the beloved Percy and the Park Keeper series. Our exploration kicked off with the delightful tale of ‘One Springy Day,’ where we immersed ourselves in descriptions of characters and settings. Through this engaging story, we’ve been expanding our descriptive vocabulary, painting rich pictures of the world within the pages. It’s been wonderful to see the children’s imaginations soar as they delve deeper into the woods alongside Percy and his friends.

Mathematical Explorations: Counting Up to 20 with Moving and Non-Moving Objects

In our maths sessions, we’ve been busy counting up to 20, encountering objects both in motion and at rest. As a weekend challenge, we invite you and your child to explore counting 20 of the same object. Will it be blades of grass, colourful leaves, or perhaps a handful of beans? Let’s embark on this counting adventure together and see where it leads us!

Continuous Provision Highlights: Teddy Bears Picnic and Play

Amidst our learning adventures, we’ve enjoyed some fantastic continuous provision activities this week, including today’s delightful Teddy Bears Picnic! The children brought their beloved bear companions to school, and together, we shared stories, snacks, and lots of laughter. It was heartwarming to see the children dancing with their furry friends around the picnic blanket.

Reminders:

  • PE Days: Tuesday and Thursday
  • Forest School: Wednesday
  • Break time snack are to be healthy. Any unhealthy snacks will have to be saved for after school as per the school’s policy.

Class 1 Weekly Update

Dear Parents/Carers

We hope this message finds you well. It’s been a fantastic week here in Class 1, filled with exciting discoveries and meaningful learning experiences. We are thrilled to report that our students have exemplified our school values of being ready, respectful, and safe throughout the week.

In celebration of Science Week, our curious young minds delved into the fascinating world of bugs and their habitats. Responding to their inquisitive “thought bubbles” about insect legs and habitats, we embarked on an exhilarating bug hunt. From ladybirds to centipedes, our explorers uncovered a plethora of critters, sparking their curiosity and nurturing their love for scientific inquiry.

In writing sessions, our students have been captivated by the enchanting tale of “Dogger.” Through this beloved story, they’ve begun crafting sentences that vividly describe characters, fostering their creativity and language skills. Don’t forget to ask your child at home: “What comes at the end of a sentence?”

In mathematics, our focus has been on exploring the concepts of odd and even numbers through engaging activities and interactive learning experiences. It’s been inspiring to witness how well the children have grasped these concepts, showcasing their mathematical thinking.

In phonics, our young learners have been working on mastering Set 1 Red Tricky Words. We encourage you to support their learning journey by practicing these words at home. You can find a helpful resource here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3pvC4PoJRE).

Thank you for your continued support in nurturing our students’ growth and development. We look forward to another week of exploration, learning, and fun-filled adventures ahead!

Class 1 Weekly Update

Good Afternoon Parents/Carers,

It has been another busy and wonderful week in Class 1 with Mothers Day lunch and World Book Day!

In our math sessions this week, Class 1 embarked on an exciting journey into the world of doubles, all through the vibrant lens of ladybird wings! We delved into the concept of doubling using a fun and engaging rap that brought the idea to life. By examining the symmetry of ladybird wings and identifying the double spots, students gained a deeper understanding of doubling as a mathematical concept. Through this interactive and visual approach, students not only grasped the concept of doubles but also developed their observational skills, critical thinking, and mathematical reasoning.

This week marked the end of our thrilling adventure with Bunting and his lost toys in “Lost in the Toy Museum.” On World Book Day, we joined Bunting in his quest to reunite with his beloved toys, guiding him through the maze of the toy museum. Through this journey, students not only honed their reading comprehension skills but also delved into themes of friendship, problem-solving, and perseverance. As we bid farewell to Bunting and his toys, we celebrated the joy of storytelling and the power of imagination that literature brings into our lives.

In our exploration of Forest School activities, we delved into the significance of Easter gardens and their importance in Christian traditions. Students learned about the symbolic elements of Easter gardens, such as flowers representing new life and stones symbolizing the tomb of Jesus. Through hands-on activities and discussions, students gained insights into the religious significance of Easter gardens and the values they represent. Additionally, students engaged in nature-based activities, fostering a deeper connection with the environment and an appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.

Class 1 Weekly Update

Dear Parents/ Carers

We hope this update finds you well. This week in literacy, Class 1 embarked on a magical journey into the world of gardening by planting beans. We were inspired by the delightful book “Jasper’s Beanstalk.” Encourage your child to share their experience and ask us about the 7 days of the week, a concept we’ve been exploring in class.

In Maths, we’ve been laying the foundation for numerical understanding by focusing on numbers up to 7. The children have been actively engaging in activities that build their numerical skills and confidence. Feel free to reinforce this learning at home through playful counting exercises.

For PE, our energetic little ones have been grooving and moving in our dance sessions. It’s a fantastic way for them to express themselves while staying active and healthy. Join the excitement by asking your child about the dance moves they’ve learned!

Unfortunately, we did not get to go to forest school this Wednesday as school conditions did not permit. We are hoping to make it down next Wednesday, however, this is dependent on whole school timetabling.

Lastly, we are thrilled to share that Class 1 has been awarded the Lunchtime Star Award for consistently demonstrating excellent sitting and impeccable table manners during lunchtime. We’re incredibly proud of their positive behaviour and manners. Let’s keep up the good work!

As always, if you have any questions or would like more details on your child’s progress, don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your continued support in making learning a joyful adventure for Class 1!
