Class 1 have had another great week!
This week our story focus has been – Who’s in my family? By Robbie Harris
We have talked a lot about the morning routines in our families this week. The children have ordered pictures and labelled initial sounds for words such as breakfast, teeth, dressed, brush. The children have blown me away with their sound recognition and letter formation.
In phonics this week we have learnt – c k u b f
Below is a link to a sheet to help you with the rhymes for each sound to help your children at home.

This week in maths the children have been learning more about numbers 2, 3 and 4. They have been using the stem sentences 1 and 1 is 2, 1 and 1 and 1 is 3 and 1 and 1 and 1 and 1 is 4. They have shown their understanding by selecting objects to show 2, 3 and 4.
Here are some snap shots of our week:
This week at forest school, the children made portraits using natural materials.
Well done to our student council reps!
Next week forest school is on Tuesday. Please bring wellies, coats and wear long trousers and sleeves on this day.
Your child has been given a reading record and they have chosen a book from the book corner to bring home to share with you. Please share this book with your child, reading the story and talking about what is happening. Once you have done this you can comment in their reading record. Please write the date, book title and a comment for example about how they have got on or if they have enjoyed the story. Reading to your children is very important and we encourage you to do it as much as you can.
Reminders:
- Please return book corner books every Monday and then the children can choose a new book to take home that week. Certificates are given out in assembly for reading regularly at home.
- If you send a morning snack in for your child please ensure that it is a healthy snack
- Forest School – Tuesday
- PE days – Tuesday (until October half term) & Thursday
- On Friday parents can come into class when the door opens and share a story with their child.
