British Science Week – Teamwork in Action!

During British Science Week activities (we completed ours at the beginning of the week), Classes 6 and 8 took part in a hands‑on teamwork challenge that helped them explore what effective collaboration really looks like. Together, the children discussed the key qualities of great teamwork, identifying listening, resilience, talking, making agreements, collaboration, and being respectful as the most important ingredients.

To put these ideas into practice, pupils took on a practical task with a twist: at first, they weren’t allowed to speak. This made them think creatively about how to work together, using gestures and pointing to communicate. Many children found this both fun and surprisingly effective—one pupil even shared that the silent round helped them concentrate better!

The activity encouraged pupils to recognise their own strengths, support one another, and reflect on how different communication styles can influence a team’s success. It was a brilliant example of learning through doing and a great celebration of British Science Week’s spirit of curiosity, problem‑solving, and discovery.
