British Science Week – open lessons with parents

It was wonderful to have our parents join us for our science lesson during British Science Week.

We wanted to help Mr and Mrs Grinling to stop the seagulls eating their lunch. We investigated how we could use pulley systems to carry the basket of food.
Year 1 had one type of material whereas Year 2 had different materials to see which one was the best for the different types of spools.

The Great Fire of London Re-enactment

KS1 had a fantastic experience this week. We have been learning about the Great Fire of London this half term.
The children had a home project to create their own Tudor house. Thank you to all the parents/ carers who helped to create these amazing houses!

The children were very excited to watch what would’ve happened in 1666!

Internet Safety Day 2025 – KS1

On Tuesday, we celebrated Internet Safety Day. In KS1, we learnt about what personal information is and then sorted different pieces of information into whether they were personal to us or not.
We also talked about how sometimes people can play tricks on us online and this is called a ‘scam’. We discussed who our trusted adults are, and how we need to talk to them if anything happens online which we are unsure about.
The children listened to an online safety story about Samira and thought about how she would be feeling at different points in the story.

Class 3 NSPCC Numbers Day

Class 3 looked fantastic in their numbers and patterned themed clothing!
We had a great time doing lots of number themed activities and enjoyed the cake sale at break time!

Class 3 Tennis Taster Session

Class 3 had a fun tennis taster session today delivered by the coaches at High Ercall Tennis Club.

Today, the children were introduced to the basics of tennis, starting with fundamental ball control activities designed to build their confidence and coordination. They also bounced the ball gently with a racket ensuring they were holding the racket correctly. These activities will not only help improve their hand-eye coordination but also encourage them to stay active and enjoy trying something new in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

Class 3 had an enjoyable session 🙂

National Coding Week- KS1

In KS1 computing this week, our focus has been around Coding. We discussed the importance of instructional language and how we need to be specific when giving instructions, which is what computers need when given a code to run.

We began using clear instructions by directing our teachers to move around the room, before trying this out with our peers. The children could see how important it was to be specific and use directional language.

The children also listened to some instructions to create a drawing. We discussed the importance of clear instructions again, and were reminded if we were telling a computer to do this it would need to be specific.
