Spellings

Just a little message for parents/carers about Class 3’s spelling activities and homework.

At the beginning of each week, I introduce 6 new high frequency spellings that we read, write and practice. If the children spell any incorrectly, they write them into their spelling log book (this should come home every Friday and come back into school on Monday)

Throughout the week, the children then complete different activities based on a new spelling rule that they are learning – e.g words ending in ‘ing’. The children then choose 5 words from these activities to write in their log books, along with any of the high frequency words that they then need to practice at home.

Thank you for your support with spellings and homework 🙂

Design Technology

This term Class 3 will be researching, designing and creating a mini Roman chariot. As part of the research, could each child please bring in a toy or object that has wheels (no electronics please) for next Monday (27th).

Thank you.

Cardboard Boxes

Class 3 need cardboard boxes for an activity next term. Over Christmas, could your child/children please save a cardboard box each (not huge boxes please) and bring it into school when we come back in January. Any spares will be welcome.

Thank you very much 🙂 Miss Taylor

Christmas Party

On the last day (Friday 20th) Class 3 will be having a Christmas Party. The children will already be in non-uniform/Christmas jumpers but they can also bring in a toy or game that they would like to play with during the day (no valuables or electronics please).

We will be providing some party snacks for the children while they watch a film in the afternoon but if your child/children could bring in a snack to share for the party then that would be brilliant.

Thank you 🙂

Secret Santa

In class 3 we have decided to do ‘Secret Santa’.

The children have been given the name of somebody else in our class to get a gift for. We have set a maximum budget of £3.00 to spend on a gift, but homemade gifts are great too 🙂

Please can the children bring the gifts into school for the last day of term (20th December). The gifts need to be wrapped and labelled with who they are for but not who they are from.

Recycle your christmas jumper stall

This year at the Christmas fayre we will be holding a recycle your Christmas jumper stall. If you have any unwanted or outgrown Christmas jumpers to donate to our stall please bring them to Ladybird class or to the main office anytime before Friday. They will be on sale at the fayre for £2 each.

Please note: Christmas jumpers must be in good, clean condition.

Thank you in advance

Mrs Owen

Spellings

The 6 high frequency spellings that we are going to focus on this week are decide, who, busy, eight, surprise and remember.

We are also focussing on the prefixes -dis and -in added to the beginning of some words to change their meaning.

This includes words such as like – dislike, appear-disappear, visible-invisible and dependent-independent.

Please take the time to practice these spellings with your child at home throughout the week. You can look at how words change when using and not using the prefixes -dis and -in.

Thank you for your continued support.

Spooky Disco Arrangements

The ‘Spooky’ discos are on Thursday this week.

Nursery, Reception and KS1 children will be taken into the disco at 1.45pm, if they have a ticket.  All other children will remain in class. Children will then go back to class at 2.45pm and be collected from the classroom as normal at the end of the day.

KS2 children will go into the disco at 3pm, if they have a ticket. All other children will remain in class and will then be taken onto the playground at hometime as usual. At the end of the disco (4pm) the main door in reception will be opened and you can collect your child from the school hall.  Please enter the hall through the door opposite the nursery and leave the hall through the door opposite the Stars room.

Thank you for your co-operation.
