This week in Owls

In maths we have been learning all about sorting objects into groups and learning about the language to compare amounts!

In English we have been reading The Scarecrow’s Wedding by Julia Donaldson which was a lovely story.

In phonics we have focused on the first three sounds: M,   A    and   S

The children have also had lots of opportunities for child initiated time as well as making jelly fish in RE, painting clay bugs and playing some musical instruments.

Have a lovely weekend and I hope you’re excited for next week!

Reading books at home

Dear parents or carers,

For read write inc. guided reading we start off on the Ditty level. To accompany this, we have these home reading Ditty Sheets. These will often follow along with sounds that your child has already been taught. Do not worry if your child cannot blend all the letters together and just continue to praise what they have been able to sound out. Please keep these ditty sheets in the green folder and a new sheet will be put in each Friday. Please bring these in on a Friday so that they can be added.

Do continue to read the sharing books that your child has chosen and any additional books that they have at home. Once we have finished the Ditty sheets, and your child is ready, they will begin to bring home reading books that follow with the guided reading in class.

Please note down any reading that your child completes into their reading record so that we can check it on a Friday (whether it is a Ditty sheet or a book).

This shows the pronunciation of the set 1 Sounds (up to 5:53)

Many thanks for your support,

Read Write Inc Books

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are very excited in KS1 that our new Read Write Inc books have arrived in school. We are spending this week/beginning of next week organising them all and getting them recorded properly and will get these out to the children next week.
Thank you so much for your patience while we transfer over to the new program.
Kind regards

Mrs Edwards

Welcome to Owls

Hello Parents and Carers of children in Owls.

PE – every Tuesdays, please come in in PE kit.

Books – will be changed, if needed, on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Communication books – we will be removing communication books from the folders to reduce the risk of bringing another book to and from school. If you need to get a message to me and cannot at the door, please either: write a note and leave it in their book bags or email the office, and they will pass the message on to me.

Phonics help for your children –

I know that some have been enquiring about phonics sounds. We will be updating you with helpful resources from Friday.
