I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the lovely cards, gifts and kind words yesterday.
It has been an absolute pleasure to teach such a wonderful, smart, funny and talented class and I feel extremely lucky that I got to work with you all for a second year. You are a very special class and I will miss you all very much; the schools you are moving to are extremely lucky to be gaining such a fantastic group of young people.
Goodbye and good luck to you all; you are going to smash it!
What a fantastic evening we had at the Year 6 Prom on Friday. The children all looked amazing and arrived in style. Thank you to everyone for all their efforts to make the prom special.
We took lots of fabulous pictures but will be saving these for our assembly on Tuesday. We hope you can all come and would advise that you have tissues at the ready – we will certainly be needing ours!
I can’t believe it it the last few days for Year 6 and I’m sure you can’t either. We have a fun afternoon planned on Wednesday and will provide more details via text.
Mrs Duncan, Mr Walker & Mr Creber
It has been such a busy time in Year 6 as we have such a lot to do before the end of term.
Last week we planned our enterprise projects to raise money to donate to a charity of our choice and to fund our end of year treats. We have a few charities in mind; we will let you know when we have made our final decision. The activities that we have chosen to do will take place this week and we hope everyone enjoys joining in.
We are also working hard on putting together our leavers assembly for next week. We have been practising our songs and learning our scripts. We are really looking forward to sharing it with our parents; they may need some tissues to hand!
We also have our prom to look forward to on Friday; we can’t wait to get dressed up and have fun as a class.
What an exciting week we have ahead!
As you will already be aware, we are currently running an enterprise project to raise money for charity and our end of year treats. The following activities/stalls will be available for all children to participate in/purchase items from on the following days this week:
Tuesday lunch time: penalty shoot out, football matches, soak the student and guess the number of sweets in the jar.
Wednesday lunch time: Penalty shoot out, football matches, Pokemon stall.
Thursday lunch time: Guess the name of the teddy, cake/sweet stall, loom band sale.
The prices have previously been posted on the school website. We hope you all enjoy participating in the activities on offer.
To conclude our week at Kingswood, each group took part in whatever activities the other group had already completed. Before the heavens opened we managed to fit in a little crate stacking and fencing.
Well, somehow we have managed to dodge the torrential rain and have had another fun-packed day. A few team exercises saw the children creating shelters before attempting to make rope. They then completed a STEM project where they had to plan, build and present a design and project of their own in a Dragon’s Den style exercise.
The afternoon was more physical with low ropes, assault course and fencing on the agenda.
All this after a smoke filled evening, last night, around the camp fire.
Well, so far we have just about managed to miss the worst of the showers. Let’s hope this continues for tonight’s camp fire.
Last night everyone seemed to be asleep by 10:30 and were reluctant to wake up this morning!
We’ve had another fun packed day with activities including: Craft skills, Aeroball, Jacob’s Ladder, crate stacking and orienteering to name but a few.
After a relatively quiet night in which some children achieved some sleep, we have had another busy day. Archery, zipline, fire building, scavenger hunting, problem solving, nightlining and rock climbing were all on the agenda.
Some of the children are starting to look a little more tired than last night!
The children are now starting to settle into their new environment. After a familiarisation walk they sorted themselves out in their dorms and soon learnt how to make a bed. A couple of activities before tea and a couple more this evening before they hopefully settle down.
