Parenting Team Service Update

The Parenting Team will continue our service of telephone consultations. Parents and carers simply need to call our office on 01743 250950 or email parenting.team@shropshire.gov.uk to arrange a consultation at a time convenient to them.

Taking the current situation into account our team can support parents and carers with:
Managing difficult questions and worries from children due to the current situation
Managing challenging behaviour which might be a result of the changes to their everyday lives
Suggestions on activities with children

In the current situation and with schools closed this might become a lifeline for parents and carers.

Kind regards

Dropping off at school

We are continuing to restrict parental access into school on Thursday and Friday this week.

Therefore please could Reception and KS1 parents drop their children off at the main office in the morning and we will take them down to class again. Could KS2 parents please drop their children off at the green gate leading onto the playground. Nursery parents to continue to drop off at the usual door, but will not be allowed in.

Thank you for your support.

Staff Information Update – Coronavirus

Mr Chiverton is following government guidelines and is now self isolating at home for 14 days, as a member of his household has been showing systems of coronavirus. He will continue to plan for the class and Mrs Wills has kindly agreed to teach the class to ensure as least disruption as possible.

Mrs Kelly, the school cook, is also now self isolating for the foreseeable future as a member of her household is high risk

Mrs Roberts is self isolating for 14 days as a member of her household has been showing symptoms. Please be patient when contacting the school office via phone or in person, as you will be aware we are extremely busy with the current situation and Mrs Flood is on her own.

Thank you for your support

Staff Information – Miss White

We are very sad to inform you that Miss White will be leaving St Mary’s at Easter.

She is leaving to take up a post at a Specialist Secondary School in Telford, an area of education that she has always wanted to work in.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Miss White for all her hard work and dedication whilst at St Mary’s. The governors, staff, parents and children will really miss her bubbly, engaging personality. I am sure she will be a great success at her new school and they are very lucky to be having her.

Coronavirus – New Guidance for Households with Symptoms

This is the latest information from the DFE on 17th March 2020

Yesterday, the Government introduced new guidance on whole household isolation in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak:

  • if you live alone and you have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), however mild, stay at home for 7 days from when your symptoms started
  • if you live with others and you or another member of the household have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill. It is likely that people living within a household will infect each other or be infected already. Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community
  • for anyone in the household who starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14-day isolation period.

The symptoms are:

  • A high temperature (37.8 degrees and above)
  • A new, continuous cough

The full stay at home guidance for households with these symptoms can be found here:

Home Learning Activities

Should the school close, or your child is currently absent, because of the coronavirus, we have put together a list of websites that you will be able to access at home to help support your child’s learning.

Teachers will be using Education City to provide work for your child’s relevant year group and will be keeping this updated should the school close. Your child’s log in details and password should be in their reading record.

If we close teachers will be still be using the website as normal.

Please also find attached a list of websites that you can access at home to help. The majority of these are free and there is no expectation that you subscribe to any of them.
