We are continuing to keep you updated on the government’s response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Today, we have launched a new helpline to answer questions about COVID-19 related to education. Staff, parents and young people can contact the helpline as follows:

No school should close in response to a suspected (or confirmed) COVID-19 case unless directed to do so by Public Health England.

Next week our kitchen staff are preparing a special ‘Around The World’ menu.

Each day they will prepare a menu from a different country. Every child who eats school dinner on Monday will be given a passport, which will be stamped each day if they eat a school dinner from a different country.  Those children who eat school dinners all five days and collect all five passport stamps will be entered into a competition. Just hand your completed passport to the kitchen staff (ensure you have put your name on the passport). There will be a prize for KS1 and a prize for KS2.

The menu will comprise:-

Monday – Italy  – Macaroni Cheese or Spaghetti Bolognese, garlic bread, broccoli, carrots. Zeppola (mini doughnut dressed with cream and topped with a cherry)

Tuesday – France  – French Bread Pizza with a variety of toppings, french fries, peas & broccoli. Chocolate Crepes

Wednesday – Sweden  – Meatballs in a rich gravy or Quorn Balls in tomato sauce with mashed potatoes, rice, green beans & carrots. Raspberry Cheesecake.

Thursday – United Kingdom  – Big Breakfast or Vegetarian Breakfast. Shrewsbury Biscuits.

Friday – America  – Hot Dogs or Not Dogs with curly fries, beans and sweetcorn. Blueberry Muffins.

To celebrate World Book Day we would like the children to come to school dressed as their favourite book character on Thursday 5th March.

Along with World Book Day we are basing all of our writing for the week around the book ‘The Tunnel’ by Anthony Browne.

Children of all ages are continuing to ride their bikes and scooters on school grounds, through gates and on the playground, particularly after school.

Once again another child has almost been knocked down by a child on scooter trying to scoot past them on a narrow path.

We would very much appreciate your support in ensuring that your child dismounts their bike or scooter at the roadside entrance gates in the morning, and pushes it to the bike/scooter store. Also, once they collect their bike/scooter after school they push it to the main entrance gate before riding home.

Our year 5 children will be attending a Christingle Service at Shrewsbury Abbey on Tuesday 17th December.

They will be leaving school at 9.15am and returning in time for lunch.

There will be no charge for this trip. However, we are collecting money for The Children’s Society. There is a donation box in the school office if you would like to contribute.
