Below is the costume list for our end of year production “Shakespeare Rocks” Please do not feel any pressure to buy anything new. Please use clothes and items your child already has, as the costumes can be flexible. Most costumes are based around the Shakespearian era. We will be able to provide some parts of the children’s costumes such as high viz jackets, hard hats, swords etc. Please ask if you want clarification or there are any issues. I’m happy to help!

Class 10 Weekly News

Happy Half Term Everyone!!

Class 10 have worked extremely hard this half term and I am very proud of what they have achieved.

This week Class 10 have been working hard in History. They started the week by comparing Tudor Christmas, food, games and music to modern day. They worked in pairs to create a comparison poster of their findings. Today, Class 10 continued their history topic by learning about Tudor houses. They learnt about the structure of the buildings, the difference between wealthy and poor Tudor buildings and the interior designs.

Also, this week Class 10 completed a science investigation to investigate changes to microorganisms. They used amounts of sugar and yeast to test how they react and how yeast grows. They used milk bottles to place the mixture inside, placed a balloon over the top and watched over a period of time to measure how much the balloon inflated.

Have a lovely half term everyone!

Class 10 Weekly News

Congratulations Class 10 on Completing SATs!

Class 10 have shown dedication, determination and a positive attitude throughout this whole week. It has been so nice to witness the exceptional effort and positive attitude displayed by each and every pupil during the SATs assessments. Their commitment to their studies and their resilience in the face of challenging questions has been commendable. I am very proud of all of them! As parents, I am sure you are incredibly proud of your children’s achievements, and you should be! This milestone marks a significant accomplishment in their academic journey.

A few parents have been asking about recommended books their children over the past few weeks. Please see below a document with the new recommended list from the TopicsforBooks website for recommended reads for children in Year 6.

Today the class enjoyed making pizzas and going to the park to celebrate the completion of their SATs and I hope they have a restful weekend – they really do deserve it!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Class 10 Weekly News

Class 10 have worked exceptional hard this week completing practice papers and revising topics previously covered to prepare for their SATs assessments next week. Thank you for your support in sending your children to school early over the past two weeks, this has enabled me to see huge amounts of progress and has made children feel more prepared/less anxious about their SATs. If your child would like to do any revision over the weekend, their first papers will be Grammar and Spelling. Use their homework books to recap learning or use online resources. If you search for previous years SATs papers they are free to access.

Next week, SATs will take place from Monday 13th May – Thursday 16th May. There will be no SATs on Friday 17th May. Please ensure your child gets a good night sleep the night before and eats breakfast before school. The class do not need to come into school early next week.

I am extremely proud of how hard they have all been working and the determination to try their best. Please reassure them they don’t need to feel anxious as the SATs will just be like the papers we have been practising in class. All they need to do is try their best.

Today Class 10 took part in a cricket workshop. This was a fun way to end the week and learn a new sports skill.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend in the sunshine.

Class 10 Weekly News

I would like to start this post by saying a massive thank you to all of the Class 10 pupils for coming in to school early every day this week for SATs booster sessions. They have worked extremely hard and are showing a real drive for wanting to do well in their upcoming assessments. They have been encouraging each other and displaying positive attitudes across all their assessment papers, even the ones they might find challenging. Next week, the sessions will continue. Remember Monday is a bank holiday, therefore there will be no school. However, the maths homework will still need completing. This will be the next two tests in your child’s book. Next week, we will continue to revise and complete practice papers in class. We will focus on areas that the class feel they need to revise and areas staff members have noticed during this weeks booster sessions.

In class this week, we have also observed our microorganism enquiry – we had a lot of mouldy bread! The class wrote up their observations and concluded their findings. Also, we continued our Tudor topic in History. This week Class 10 made a comic strip about Henry VIII’s reign as King. This included his six wives and the changes he made to the Church of England.

Lastly, thank you to all parents for your continued support and for dropping your children off early every day. We really appreciate this.

Next week, the class will complete MOCK SATs on Wednesday and Friday morning.

I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend, fingers crossed the sun makes an appearance.

Class 10 Weekly News

This week Class 10 have been working extremely hard in Science. They started the week by learning about biodiversity. They explained what biodiversity was and what it looked like across a range ecosystems. They also focused on the impact made when a creature us removed from an ecosystem and how humans can help protect ecosystems. The next day, the class worked in groups to plan an independent enquiry with dependent, independent and control variables. They learnt about different micro-organisms and how they grow and develop in a variety of locations. They used this information to set up an observation over time enquiry. Their enquiry question was “If we change the contact/location we made with the bread, what will happen to the amount of mould that develops over time?” The groups then set up their observation over time around the classroom, considering which slice of bread they thought would develop the most mould. Today, we checked the slices, some mould was appearing, and Class 10 are looking forward to checking on the slices again next week.

Class 10 have also been working hard in Maths this week. They have been focusing on shape. They have practised finding angels in triangles, quadrilaterals and polygons, before moving onto circles and drawing shapes accurately. This has enabled them to practise their protractor skills by drawing shapes to scale.

Please remember that from Monday 29th April until Friday 10th May 2024 your child needs to be in school for 7:45am for a prompt start at 8am for SATs Booster sessions. These sessions are so we can prepare pupils for their SATs, which will commence week beginning Monday 13th May.

This week your child should have received a letter regarding a trip to Parliament on Monday 15th July. Please make sure you have read this letter as this will be a very exciting opportunity and the class are already looking forward to it.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
