Class 10 Weekly News

I want to start this weeks post by saying how amazing Class 10 have been this week. They have come back to school with a positive attitude towards their learning and have taken on the role of being role models to the rest of the school in a mature manner. They have been working well together and already producing fantastic work. Keep it up Class 9.

Some reminders:

Monday and Wednesday are PE Days

Reading records need to be in school each day and children should be reading at least 3 times a week

Arthog consent forms need to be back at school ASAP

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine.

Class 10 Weekly News

On Monday, Class 10 went to Ironbridge visiting the China Museum and The Jackfield Museum as part of their global trade topic. They learnt about the trade and development of tea and made their own small tea cups.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday was spent renovating our Key Stage 2 outside area The children have done an amazing job and the area can be enjoyed by the rest of the school for years to come.

Prom night yesterday was very successful and I have never seen a Year 6 class dance so much! Thank you to Mrs North and Mr Creber for their help and to Becky, Emma and Liz in the kitchen for providing a delicious three course meal for everyone.

Today, we entertained the local community with tea and cakes. Unfortunately due to the weather, we were unable to hold the event outside but Class 10 were amazing hosts. Thank you for the cake donations and I am sure everyone will sleep well tonight after such a busy week.

Please can any school reading books be returned to school by next Friday.

Have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday at 2.30pm for Class 10’s leavers’ assembly.

Please can community project reply slips be returned tomorrow so we can start organising tasks for Tuesday. I will provide further details tomorrow with regards to clothing etc.

The countdown has begun for Thursday’s prom and everyone is really excited for the big event!

Class 10 Weekly News

Practice has begun on our Leaver’s assembly that takes place on Tuesday 18th July and everyone is looking forward to the big show!

In Literacy, children have finished their refugee stories and we are going to create a class book for the reading corner that will include all of their tales. We have also started our unit on the Mayan folk tale, The Chocolate Tree.

In Maths, children used the Nrich website to develop their reasoning skills and children used the four operations to solve problems involving salaries and taxes.

Most children will be at their new schools for transitions days on Monday and Tuesday next week. I want to wish them the best of luck – they will love it!

Best wishes

Class 10 Weekly Update

Class 10 have been superstars enduring the hot weather this week and we are really proud of their resilience!

In Reading, children have finished reading Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman and have started their new book entitled Floodlands by Marcus Sedgwick. We are only 2 chapters in and are on the edges of our seats already!

Everyone has been very busy in Writing this week, writing a story from the perspective of a refugee. The standard of writing the children have produced is exceptional and it has been a pleasure listening to their stories.

In Maths, children have selected a holiday destination they would like to visit and are applying their mathematic skills to calculate a range of factors such as petrol costs, airport parking and hotel meals.

End of year events:

The prom will take place on Thursday 13th July at 5.30pm and invites went out today.

Next week, we will begin our rehearsals for the leaver’s assembly that takes place on Tuesday 18th July. The children  cannot wait to get started!

Class 10 will be starting a community project soon where they will be renovating the garden area outside class 9 and class10. The area is looking shabby and Year 6 pupils have the exciting challenge of bringing it back to life. Once complete, we are going to invite the local elderly community in on Friday 14th July to have tea and cake in the new garden area.

During the last week, we will be arranging an end of year water fight – more details to follow.

Sports Days:

On Monday19th June, please can children come to school in their PE kit as we will be having a sports day practice. The main event will take place on Tuesday 20th June in which parents/carers/relatives will be invited to come along to spectate.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes

Choir Events

The choir have been invited to perform at two events.  River Meadows nursing home and Shawbury village hall.

Unfortunately, due to the numbers being limited at the nursing home, we can only take 18 children. You will have received a text message if your child has been selected to go. Apologies to those children who have not been selected this time. We are hoping the choir will have future events to attend for your child to take part in.

Every choir member is welcome to attend the performance at the village hall. If you have not already returned your form letting us know if you can attend, please do so by Monday 12th.  Please can your child wear their school jumper and bring a Christmas hat and tinsel. Tickets are still available from the school office if you wish to watch the show.

Thanks
