In RE we have used all the learning we have done about Salvation to answer our big question: ‘Why does Easter matter to Christians?’.

Today we enjoyed a lovely church service with lots of singing of our Easter songs but also our Value song ‘Truth I’m standing on’ which links to our value of Integrity this half term. We have been able to re-tell the Easter story and the days which are a part of Holy Week.

What a fab week in KS1!

In History we have continued our topic of Nurturing Nurses focussing more specifically on Florence Nightingale and the differences she made to hospitals.

In Science, we have been learning all about habitats and what they provide for living things. Over the next few weeks, we will be delving deeper studying different habitats.

In English we have been enjoying our story ‘Vlad and the Florence Nightingale Adventure’. We started by making predictions based upon the front cover and the blurb before reading the story and finding out if our predictions were correct. We have been using our senses to think about how the hospital was before Florence began making changes, and we wrote some descriptive sentences based upon this.

In Maths, year 1 children have been recapping 2D shapes and learning about 3D shapes. Year 2 have been recapping previous learning on addition and subtraction. For the rest of the week Year 2 have been continuing with addition within 20, focussing on adding across 10.

Reminders:

  • Children will have their reading book given to them on Monday.
  • PE days – Tuesday and Friday

Have a lovely weekend 😊
