This allowed the group to be able to finger spell their names. They learnt the signs for hello and my name is so they were able to have a short conversation with a peer. Fantastic finger spelling!

We explored the cause of vibrations and sound, before the Year 4 children furthered their understanding with ranking sounds in regards to their volume.

Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful school community, we raised an amazing £169! The students didn’t just sell cakes—they used their maths skills throughout the event. They calculated prices, worked out totals, gave correct change, and even kept track of profits. It was a brilliant way to put classroom learning into real-life practice! A huge thank you to everyone who baked, bought, and supported this event. Your kindness will help make a real difference.

We discussed the children’s own experiences of storms and how to stay safe by staying inside and away from trees and electrics. We also discussed localised problems such as flooding in Shrewsbury. We then made rain gauges to track the rain caused by storm Claudia.

The theme was cats, and participants stitched adorable feline designs that showcased both skill and imagination. From playful patterns to great fabric choices, every creation reflected the group’s enthusiasm and teamwork.

It was a wonderful opportunity for them to learn teamwork, practice measuring and mixing, and enjoy the sweet rewards of their efforts!

We discussed everything that makes our school so great: attendance monopoly, student roles, values, subjects and the whole school community. Once we have finished the posters we are going to send them to our friends in Poltava.

We explored what’s Safe and Not Safe when enjoying fireworks and bonfires. ✅ Safe: Stand well back from the bonfire Wear gloves when using sparklers Keep a bucket of water nearby Always have an adult supervising ❌ Not Safe: Throwing fireworks or sparklers Standing too close to the fire Wearing loose clothing near flames Playing without supervision We even sorted pictures into Safe and Not Safe categories to help everyone remember these important rules. Stay safe and have fun!
