BSL Enrichment 21.11.25

Our first session in BSL focussed on learning to finger spell the alphabet. This allowed the group to be able to finger spell their names. They learnt the signs for hello and my name is so they were able to have a short conversation with a peer.
Fantastic finger spelling!

LKS2 Weekly Post – 14.11.25

As part of our work on Sound, this week in Science, Year 3 and 4 investigated how sounds are made and the concept of vibrations. We explored the cause of vibrations and sound, before the Year 4 children furthered their understanding with ranking sounds in regards to their volume.

Enrichment Friday Finance – Children in Need

Our Finance Enrichment Group showed fantastic teamwork today by hosting a cake sale at lunchtime in support of Children in Need. Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful school community, we raised an amazing £169!

The students didn’t just sell cakes—they used their maths skills throughout the event. They calculated prices, worked out totals, gave correct change, and even kept track of profits. It was a brilliant way to put classroom learning into real-life practice!

A huge thank you to everyone who baked, bought, and supported this event. Your kindness will help make a real difference.

Enrichment group – safety squad

This week, safety squad have been learning about storm safety.
We discussed the children’s own experiences of storms and how to stay safe by staying inside and away from trees and electrics.

We also discussed localised problems such as flooding in Shrewsbury.

We then made rain gauges to track the rain caused by storm Claudia.

Enrichment – Safety Squad

Our Safety Squad learned how to stay safe during Bonfire Night!
We explored what’s Safe and Not Safe when enjoying fireworks and bonfires.

✅ Safe:

  • Stand well back from the bonfire
  • Wear gloves when using sparklers
  • Keep a bucket of water nearby
  • Always have an adult supervising

❌ Not Safe:

  • Throwing fireworks or sparklers
  • Standing too close to the fire
  • Wearing loose clothing near flames
  • Playing without supervision

We even sorted pictures into Safe and Not Safe categories to help everyone remember these important rules. Stay safe and have fun!
