Y1 Spellings -Week 8

Dear parents,

This week, and from this week forward, your child will be sent home with spellings on a ‘Look, Cover, Write, Check’ sheet. The sheet is there for you to use to practise the spellings, however you may practise these in whichever way you feel best for your child.

Each week the spellings will be linked to the sounds taught that week in school, so please practise these as much as you can to embed using their new sounds in words.

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Miss Davies 🙂

Y1 Spellings- Week 7

Dear parents,

This week, I would like you to go over any spellings that your child found difficult to remember over the last 6 weeks.

Practise them in as many different ways as you can. For example: Put some flour on a table and spread it out, your child can write the words with their finger, get some chalk and write them outside, find a large piece of paper and write them in lots of different colours. There are so many fun ways to practise spellings.

Have fun!

Miss Davies 🙂

Year 1 Spellings and Homework folders

Parent or Carer,

On Friday, your child was sent home with a homework folder with their spellings inside for each week for this half term.

As the enclosed letter stated, there will be no in class test of these spellings, however once learnt, these spellings will be very useful to the children as writers.

These spellings are for you to practise at home in any way you can, on paper, using chalk, practising writing them on a computer etc. The more practise the better! If you need some help with how to practise these, then please let me know.

Please bring in the homework folders with your child’s reading folder every Friday and I will be adding some suggestions of activities your child could partake in at home to support in class learning. There is no need for me to see evidence of this homework being complete, but I highly recommend supporting your child to complete at least one task a week.

If you have any queries or issues, then please don’t hesitate to ask me.

Thank you for your continued support,

Miss Davies 🙂
