Forest School Enrichment

Today at Forest School, we enjoyed creating beautiful rainbow weavings using a variety of natural finds collected from around the site. The children carefully threaded leaves, grasses, flowers, and other natural materials onto their rainbow frames, showing great creativity and fine motor skills.

We also went on a minibeast hunt, exploring different habitats and looking under logs and among plants. We were excited to discover frogs, slugs, ladybirds, and butterflies. The children enjoyed observing the creatures closely and discussing where they live and why these habitats are important.

It was a fantastic session filled with creativity, exploration, and a growing appreciation for nature. 🌈🐸🦋🐞🌿

England’s Next Match

We know that the upcoming England World Cup match is scheduled to take place beyond the bedtime of many of our children. While we are all excited to support England, we also recognise the importance of children getting a good night’s sleep so that they are ready to learn and enjoy the next school day.
To help families avoid any pressure to stay up late, we will be showing the extended highlights of the match in classes the following morning. This will give all children the opportunity to enjoy the excitement, key moments and goals alongside their friends and teachers during the school day.
To make the occasion even more special, children are invited to wear their favourite football shirt, football kit or England colours to school.
We kindly ask families to help us keep the excitement alive by avoiding discussing or sharing the score with children before they arrive at school, as many will be looking forward to watching the highlights together.
We are looking forward to hopefully celebrating a win for England as a school community and hope this approach allows children to enjoy the occasion while still maintaining their usual bedtime routines.

Primary to Secondary Transition: Summer Workshop

Early Help and Healthy Lives are delivering 4 workshops across North East and North West hubs.

Primary to Secondary Transition: Summer Workshop

Moving from primary to secondary school can be both exciting and challenging. Young people often struggle with adjusting to a larger, more complex environment, new routines, and having multiple teachers, which can feel overwhelming. They may also face social challenges such as making new friends and fitting in, alongside increased academic expectations and responsibility.

To support this transition, healthy lives advisors in Shropshire are working with Early Help to offer group sessions that help young people manage these challenges. Parents can sign up their child for a one-off session using the attached form.

Dates are as follows:

North East – All workshops will be held at Raven House in Market Drayton.

  • Tuesday 25th August

North West – All workshops will be held at Castle view in Oswestry.

  • Thursday 30th July
  • Thursday 27th August

All workshops will be 10.00-11.30am.

Class 6 Explore Wood Lane Nature Reserve

Class 6 had a fantastic day at Wood Lane Nature Reserve, enjoying a variety of outdoor learning experiences and discovering more about the natural world and recycling.

The morning was spent in the woodland, where pupils took part in a range of engaging activities. They used colour palettes to match the different shades found in nature, investigated and classified a variety of invertebrates, and were excited to discover a rare woodland orchid during their exploration.

After a busy morning, the class enjoyed lunch beside the lake, making the most of the beautiful surroundings before continuing their adventure.

In the afternoon, pupils learned all about waste management during an informative tour of the quarry, landfill and recycling facilities. A highlight of the visit was stepping inside one of the sorting centres, where they were able to see first-hand how recyclable materials are separated and processed.

It was a memorable day filled with hands-on learning, new discoveries and plenty of opportunities to appreciate both the environment and the importance of recycling.

Wood Lane Nature Reserve – Class 8

Class 8 enjoyed a fantastic day today at Wood Lane Nature Reserve. The visit began with an exciting trailer tour of the quarry, including the landfill and recycling areas, where pupils learned about how waste is managed. They even had the unique opportunity to step inside one of the sorting facilities and see first-hand how recycling is processed.

After the tour, the class had lunch by the lake, taking in the beautiful surroundings. In the afternoon, they explored the woodland, where they took part in a range of hands-on activities. The pupils matched natural items to colour palettes, classified different invertebrates, and were thrilled to spot a rare woodland orchid.

It was a wonderful day of learning and discovery in the great outdoors.
