Arthog Day Four

Day Four at Arthog

Today, all the groups ventured into the beautiful hills of the Barmouth area, capturing amazing sights, challenging ourselves with a long and tiring walk, and testing our bravery as we had a go at rock climbing. It has been a mixture of peaceful, breath-taking and exhilarating. Tonight, we are going to try Nightline- this involved attempting an obstacle course in the dark with a blindfold on!

First Week at Art Club

This was the first week of Art Club, and we were all excited to get started! We each received personalized sketchbooks that we’ll be working in over the next few weeks, making them our own creative space. For our first page, we designed our names and expressed ourselves by drawing things that represent who we are, like our favorite hobbies, interests, and anything that makes us unique. It was a fun way to kick off the club, and we loved seeing everyone’s different styles and ideas. We’re all looking forward to the exciting art projects we’ll be working on in the weeks to come!

Class 3 Weekly Update

What a fantastic week in KS1.

In maths Year 1 have finished their unit on multiplication and division, looking at the steps they need to take before learning times tables formally in Year 2. We started our new topic of fractions on Friday, and Miss Styles bought some treats to share but there wasn’t enough! Luckily we had been learning about halving so we split them so everyone got an equal part. Year 2 have been learning about unit and non-unit fractions. Their understanding to this is great. We have also learnt thirds and quarters and finding fractions of an amount.

In literacy we have published our alternative endings to our class book ‘There’s a rang-tan in my bedroom’. The children have tried hard with their handwriting and have focused well.

In geography we have learnt about populations in Brazil, and the push and pull factors that affect the population numbers.

In Music we have been learning songs from the British Isles. Class 3 were very good at learning My Bonnie lies over the Ocean, and we added in some actions.

Reminders:

  • Book in everyday for reading
  • Move up day on Tuesday 2nd July
  • Open evening to meet your child’s new class teacher – Tuesday 2nd July 3:15-4:30pm
  • PE will just be on Friday next week due to move up day.

Have a lovely weekend 😊

History in STARS

Well done to some Year 3 children who have begun construction on a Lego pyramid in STARS. They are currently creating the burial chamber section, which includes: a sarcophagus, canopic jars, death mask, entrance and Anubis statues to guard the body. Can’t wait to see your finished piece!

Performing poetry

This week Year 3 and 4 are looking at a collection of poems by award winning author Zaro Weil from her book ‘When Poems fall from the sky’. Towards the end of the week, they will be writing their own poems inspired by Weil linked to their current PSHE unit of work on relationships and friendships.

Well done to Lucy and Evan on an excellent performance of the poem ‘Tell me Shadow’. I can’t wait to see how you are inspired by this poem when creating your own poem.
