In Year 3 and Year 4, we were fortunate to participate in engaging workshops led by visitors from Childnet, an organisation dedicated to promoting online safety for children. The sessions were highly interactive and informative, focusing on the essentials of staying safe while using the internet. We explored topics such as creating and managing online profiles, discussing what personal information is appropriate to share and what should be kept private. The workshop emphasised the importance of protecting our digital footprints and thinking carefully about the content we post online, helping us understand the potential long-term impacts of our online actions.
Another key area covered was the world of gaming and the age restrictions on various apps and platforms. The Childnet team provided insightful guidance on recognising age-appropriate content and understanding why these restrictions are in place. Through discussions and activities, we learned about the importance of setting boundaries while gaming, maintaining a healthy balance, and avoiding interactions that could put our safety at risk. Overall, these workshops empowered us with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the digital world responsibly and confidently.
