Our Eco Group has been busy making a positive difference to the school environment by planting several new trees in the enrichment area. The group worked together to carefully plant Rowan, Hazel, and Crab Apple trees, helping to create a greener and more wildlife-friendly space for everyone to enjoy.
The trees were planted along the hedge line near the road, where they will help strengthen the natural boundary while also improving the appearance of the area. Over time, these trees will provide important benefits such as shade, shelter for wildlife, and seasonal colour.
Rowan trees will produce bright red berries that are attractive to birds, while Hazel trees can support many insects and may even produce nuts in the future. Crab Apple trees are also excellent for wildlife and will bring beautiful blossoms in spring.
The Eco Group showed great teamwork and care while planting the trees, making sure they were positioned properly and given the best chance to grow. This project is an important step in supporting biodiversity and making our school grounds more sustainable. In addition, as part of our digital strategy we are planting a tree for every computer device purchased. This means our digital procurement directly contributes to carbon offsetting and long‑term environmental stewardship – an approach that aligns technology investment with meaningful climate action.
We look forward to watching the trees grow in the coming years and seeing the wildlife they attract. A big thank you to everyone in the Eco Group for their hard work and commitment to looking after our environment! We have a few more trees to plant next week – watch this space!
