Enrichment – Safety squad.

This week, safety squad focussed on stranger awareness. We had an interesting discussion about what a stranger is, with some children arguing that police officers, shop assistants and doctors weren’t strangers.

This led to a great discussion about ‘safer strangers’ and ‘unsafe strangers’. We discussed how police officers and such were still strangers, but could be trusted if we were lost and needed help.

Children then worked collaboratively to discuss scenario cards, thinking about the best decisions to make in certain situations.

We then discussed stranger danger within school , thinking about how our coloured lanyards help to keep us safe and help us to understand who works within our school and who is a visitor. We also spoke about visitors with a red lanyard requiring supervision from our school staff.

Finally, children produced posters to demonstrate their learning.
