Geography Orienteering end of unit

KS1 finished their geography learning on The United Kingdom this week with an exciting end of unit task.

We used simple fieldwork skills to study the geography of our school and its grounds. As we have learnt about the United Kingdom we created the United Kingdom map on our playground. We used compass directions to move to the different countries in the UK. We used observational skills to say what we could see in each country.

Pupil voice:

  • “The tyres are in  Scotland” – Mary
  • “The climbing frame is in Wales which is in the south of the UK” – Leila
  • “The buddy bench is in Northern Ireland which is in the west of the UK” – Lottie
  • “We visited all of the places in the UK” – Nia

Curriculum Objectives covered:

Locational knowledge

name, locate and identify characteristics of the four countries and capital cities of the United Kingdom and its surrounding seas
