Holiday Homework and a very Merry Christmas!

I want to start by saying a huge thank you to all parents and carers for being so supportive this term and for the wonderful cards and gifts. And a big, big thank you to the children! They have been an absolute pleasure to teach this term, they come in each morning with such happy faces and have really shown just how resilient they can be with so much disruption to their learning. Fingers crossed we have a much better 2021!

Reading: The children have been given a new reading book to enjoy over the Christmas holidays, along with a reading book they have chosen from our class library. The book chosen by the children maybe too difficult for them but the idea is to encourage a love of reading and to share this book with an adult/sibling at home. Please feel free to read this to them if they find it too tricky! In January I will have another shuffle about with groupings, so their book colour may change.

Literacy: Please see below for a short piece of writing to complete over the holidays. Please encourage your child to try hard with writing on the line, forming letters carefully and using capital letters and full stops.

Literacy homework

The children are also coming home with a new Writing book. This is to encourage the children to write freely about anything they’d like. They could write in it like a diary, record a story that they wish to share at a later date or maybe they’d like to write a letter. This will not be collected in weekly as homework but I will be asking for these back on occasion to see what they have been writing and to give them the opportunity to share with their friends.

Maths: Maths homework is to fill in the missing – or + sign to make the number sentences correct.

Maths homework

There will be no spellings homework during the Christmas holiday as we have not completed any new phonics sounds this week. Please feel free to recap on any previous spellings.

I have provided the children with a new green homework file to hopefully help with keeping all of their work together now the homework files are getting quite full. The children can keep their homework, reading book, reading record and new writing book in this file.

Reading books and records are due on the first day back (Tuesday 5th January 2021) and homework files are due back on Thursday 7th January 2021.

And finally…just a little bit of Christmas fun!

Christmas Homework

Thank you again for your support this term and I look forward to seeing you all in the new year. Wishing you a happy, safe and restful Christmas!

Best wishes,

Mrs Edwards
