In-Year Admissions

From 1 September 2024. Shropshire Council will be coordinating and allocating all requests for places at our school.

We welcome prospective parents to visit our school.  If you wish to apply for a place at our school, please complete the online application form via this link – Synergy – Homepage (shropshire.gov.uk)

Your application will be processed by the School Admissions Team at Shropshire Council in accordance with our school’s oversubscription criteria. You will then be notified via letter of the outcome of your application.

Further help for those who experience difficulties or who do not have internet access can be given by the Admissions Team on 0345 678 9008.

We welcome 38 children into each year group (from Reception to Year 6) and we also offer 28 places in our educational nursery class too.

Children can start main school for the first time in the September following their fourth birthday and must start school no later than the beginning of the term following their fifth birthday. Most children start in our Reception classes in September, but parents can choose for their child to start with us as late as the following July, depending on the child’s age and ‘readiness’ for big school. Please speak to the headteacher about the best time for your child to join our school.

Parents who do not succeed in being offered a place by Shropshire Council for their child at St Mary’s can request to be placed on the waiting list where a review is held, and then parents can continue to appeal the decision. We will let you know how to do this upon request.
