Joining a new school is an exciting time, but it can also be a little intimidating, with so many new things to find out, understand and get used to.
We hope to make starting out at our school as smooth and trouble free as possible. We provide all the information that you might need on this website.
Children who join us in Reception class are invited to take part in induction sessions when parents will have a chance to meet the staff who will be working with their child, share a school lunch and ask any questions you may have.
Starting Mid-Year
Children join us at St Mary’s at all times of the year and we welcome them whenever they come to us. We recognise the difficulties of moving in the middle of a school year. Your child will undergo some straightforward assessments when he or she arrives, and we will help provide friends, a “buddy” to work with them for a few days, and an older child who will look out for their interests at playtime. You are always welcome to come in to talk about how well your child is settling in and to discuss any concerns you may have.
