St Mary’s is a school where all children are valued and where all staff work hard to help every child. This is central to our teaching and learning offer where we want the children to be the best they can be.
At St Mary’s we recognise that Design & Technology enables the children to express their thoughts and feelings and provides another platform for the children to share their creativity and imagination. It provides visual tactile and sensory experiences and a special way of understanding and responding to the world. It includes children of all abilities to communicate what they can see, feel and think through the use of different materials and processes.
Our design technology curriculum has appropriate subject knowledge, skills and understanding, as set out in the National Curriculum Design Technology Programmes of study, to fulfil the duties of the NC whereby schools must provide a balanced and broadly-based curriculum which promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils and prepares them for the opportunities and responsibilities and experiences for later life.
