This week, we celebrated Internet Safety Day by learning about the dangers of spam and phishing and how to stay safe online. We explored how phishing emails and messages try to trick people into sharing personal information, such as passwords or bank details. By looking at examples, we discovered some common warning signs, like spelling mistakes, urgent language, and unfamiliar email addresses. We also discussed how spam messages often contain links or attachments that could be harmful to our devices.
To put our learning into practice, we worked in groups to sort emails and messages into those that were safe and those that were suspicious. This helped us understand the difference between a genuine message and a scam. We learned that if we ever receive a message that seems unusual or asks for personal details, we should never click on links or reply, but instead tell a trusted adult. By the end of the session, we all felt more confident about spotting online dangers and protecting ourselves from scams!
