Dear Parents and Carers,
What a term it’s been! Nobody could have predicted at the start of the academic year that the ending would be so disruptive, surreal and sad. We feel as a staff, that we have missed out on so many of our usual summer traditions: Proms, t-shirt signings, sports day, Leavers assembly, class move up days, induction and all the other lovely happenings at this time of the year.
We hope you understand that this has been a difficult time for us to plan for as we have often been left in the dark by the government and have received no more information than you and have tried our very best.
Fortunately, September will be a new term, we will be able to bring everyone back together and welcome new members of staff and new roles for staff: Miss Shadbolt in Year 2 and Miss Davies in Reception/Year 1, Miss Thelwell has become our new nursery manager and Miss Leech will add Teaching and Learning Lead to her Deputy, SENCO and Literacy roles.
St Mary’s will continue, with your support, to strive to be a happy, safe and the friendly environment that we have always been known for.
Sadly, some things have changed, hopefully not for long. The layout of the school, the routines and day to day running is different, but lots of things will remain the same: familiar faces, children laughing in the playground and making us smile in the classroom. We will still be St Mary’s!
I hope the information below is not too alarming, but we do need to let you know of the changes that will be in place.
We are all in this together. Stay safe until we meet again in September.
Mr Verling and all the staff at St Mary’s.
