The 6 high frequency spellings that we are going to focus on this week are –
path
son
clothes
caught
children
Saturday
As well as this, this week’s spelling focus (unit 12) is – adding the suffix -ed
Rule: If a word ends in 2 consonants, just add -ed. If a word ends in a short vowel sound + a consonant, we double the consonant before adding -ed.
This includes words such as: painted, hunted, hugged, dropped, patted, batted, clapped.
Please take the time to practise these spellings with your child at home throughout the week. You can practise the words with -ed as well as the 6 high frequency words.
Thank you for your continued support.
