Our student council wanted to make an impact on our environment. We thought about a project that would involve our local community and the environment and called it ‘Trout for Tomorrow – growing trout to release in our local river’.
We are at the very start of the project and today have informed the whole school about our project and that we have been given £1,000 to do it.
Why are we doing this?
Well, our rivers are home to many plants, animals, and fish, but some rivers have become polluted or aren’t as healthy as they used to be.
By raising these trout and releasing them into the river, we’re helping to bring more life into our local environment.
This means cleaner water, healthier fish, and even more birds and animals along the riverbanks.
Over the next few months, we will be working with the Environment Agency and a fish farm to help us.
We know this will make a difference and by becoming caretakers of our river and making a difference for our planet we want to be environmental heroes together.
We will keep you informed of our project.
