Wednesday 27th January – Home Learning

Good morning Ladybirds! Happy Wednesday!

How are you all? You are all working so hard, I love seeing your emails each day.

Phonics – /a-e/

Today we are looking at the split digraph /a-e/ and the saying to accompany the sound today is ‘make a cake’.

Once you have completed this video, can you think of any other ways to spell the long /a/ sound?

Literacy – Flotsam

Well done for your brilliant story maps and plans yesterday. You have shown a great understanding of the story and have really sparked your imaginations.

Today you are going to start to write your story based on Flotsam. You only need to write the beginning and the middle today. You are writing the story as if you are the little boy. However, you can add extra detail, change the sea creatures, change what you see and how the camera becomes to be with the little boy. Try and add lots of descriptive words to make your work super exciting. Remember to use ‘and’ ‘or’ ‘but’ and ‘because’ to extend your sentences. If you really want to push yourself and some speech. Remember to use capital letters and a range of punctuation.

Please take your time and enjoy writing your story. It is quality over quantity. You will have time tomorrow to finish and edit your story.

Maths – Davison

Today we are still looking at division but this time dividing by 2. Use resources to help you if you need to.

Please watch the video below and then complete the worksheet. If you don’t have access to a printer please just use a pen and paper.

Things to think about:

  • Are they still equal?
  • Does each person get the same amount?

History – How was transport improved connectivity across the world?

In this lesson, you will be learning about how improved transport has made the world more connected. You will be learning about how cars and trains have changed. You’ll also learn about some of the benefits of the world being more connected. You will need a piece of paper and a pencil.
