As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, Year 1 and 2 have been learning about the theme of belonging—understanding how we feel connected to the people, places, and communities around us.
The children spent time talking about what makes them feel safe, valued, and included, sharing thoughtful ideas about family, friends, school, and activities they enjoy. To express their learning, they created their own belonging maps, filled with drawings and words showing the special people and places that help them feel happy and supported.
It was wonderful to see such meaningful conversations and creativity, as the children reflected on how we all belong in different ways.
A special shoutout goes to Arthur, who was so inspired that he took his learning even further by creating an additional poster at home all about mental health and emotions. His effort to share positive messages with others was fantastic and really captured the spirit of the week.
We are very proud of Year 1 and 2 for their kindness, honesty, and thoughtful work as they learned just how important it is that everyone feels they belong.
